Blind retirees facing retirement

Hello there!  We the team at www.sterlingcreations.ca are pleased to bring you an editorial by our president Donna J. Jodhan.
We wish you a great week ahead and upcoming weekend.
Your Sterling Creations team

Blind retirees facing challenges

This is the one segment of our society that so many of us often fail to remember.  The blind retiree, and trust me when I say that this group is growing in number.  Just picture it!  A person works for over 25 years and lives a normal life.  That is, he/she lives with normal vision and works either in an office, or for themselves.  Then they retire with so many high hopes for happy retirement years but then one day...  Their vision fails them due to one reason or another.  What is the next step?

In a nutshell, a blind retiree is faced with many challenges.  First, their world has been plunged into darkness.  They can no longer read, write, watch TV, or enjoy the beauties of nature.  They are afraid to venture outdoors without the aid of family or friends.  They no longer feel that they can enjoy the pleasures of gardening, playing golf, sailing, traveling, plus so much more.  In short, their whole world has changed because they have unexpectedly lost their vision and now they are fighting to stay afloat.

For the majority of blind retirees it is indeed a tremendous challenge to remain positive.  True it is that there are several things that can be done to help them readjust.  They now have to depend on their ears to gather information and they have to learn brand new techniques to help them continue to live their lives in as normal a way as possible.  They suddenly find themselves having to depend on family and friends for assistance.  No more being able to admire those visual beauties and hello to depending more on their other senses.

Governments and communities are going to have to start paying more attention to the needs and demands of blind retirees but most important of all they will need to start understanding and recognizing the challenges of blind retirees.  For make no mistake about it, this group is growing at a steady pace and this trend is not expected to change for the long term future.

I'm Donna J. Jodhan wishing you a terrific day and weekend ahead.

Visually Impaired People's Access To Employment: Summary Of Findings

Greetings!  I'm Nico Trimoff, manager of accessibility services at www.sterlingcreations.ca.
Today, I would like to share a very explosive article with you.  One thatsquarely centers on visually impaired persons access to employment.  This is an extremely hot topic in the accessibility arena and one that is not going to go away any time soon.  One that it is high time that we all pay attention to.
This article presents very interesting reading.
I wish you a great day.
I'm Nico Trimoff your accessibility services manager.

Visually Impaired People's Access To Employment: Summary Of Findings,
Medical News Today (UK), Mar. 8, 2009

This summary report presents findings from Network 1000 Survey 2. The data
was collected during interviews with 503 visually impaired people of working
age between November 2006 and January 2007.
All the participants were registered as either blind or partially sighted
and lived in Great Britain. Sampling and analysis accounted for the age
distribution of the visually impaired population.

The summary focuses upon data relating to employment. A full report is
available on the VISION 2020 UK website listed at the end of this document.

The report presents data in relation to:

1) Overview of employment status;
2) Services received by those currently in work;
3) People who are not in work;
4) Barriers and enablers to employment.

1. Overview of employment status

Overall employment rates

Employment rate amongst the population of working age people who are
registered blind or partially sighted is estimated as 33%. This figure is
approximately the same as the estimate based on Network 1000 Survey 1
(2005). In terms of differences across ages, the highest proportion of
respondents in employment is found in the 30-49 age group (44%) then the
18-29 group (at
33%) and the lowest proportion in the 50-64 group (only 22%).

People who described themselves as 'long term sick or disabled' are the
biggest group within the working aged visually impaired population (36%).
Again this is linked with age - 17%, 32% and 45% in the 18-29, 30-49 and
50-64 age groups respectively. The overall proportion of people who
described themselves as 'long term sick or disabled' has grown since Survey
1.

As we might expect, respondents in the 18-29 category were much more likely
to classify themselves as a student (22%) than in the other two age groups,
but also unemployment was higher in this age group (22% compared with around
10% in other age groups, and overall 12%).
High proportions of people aged between 50 and 64 years of age described
themselves as retired (19%) although they were not old enough to receive a
state pension.

The employment rate amongst visually impaired people is very low compared to
the general working age population. Overall, three quarters of the general
population reported being in some form of employment (General Household
Survey 2006; ONS, 2008). Visually impaired individuals of working age are
much more likely to describe themselves as being unemployed, long term sick
or disabled, or retired than those in the general population.

Digital TV may bring 'Wi-Fi on steroids' to Canada

Greetings!  I'm Mark Micheau, manager of research services at www.sterlingcreations.ca.
One of the favorite buzz terms these days is digital TV.  It seems as if everyone is being told that digital TV is here to stay and that if they do not get it then they will be shut out of the TV highway.  Truth or myth?  Probably truth but I'll let you be the judge for yourself.  I am going to present you with an article to help you make up your mind and this article pertains to Canada.
Have a great day.
I'm Mark Micheau your research services manager.

Digital TV may bring 'Wi-Fi on steroids' to Canada; Broadband connections to
use leftover 'white spaces' from unneeded channels

Vito Pilieci
Ottawa Citizen , Feb. 5, 2009

An international initiative spearheaded by the Federal Communications
Commission in the U.S. could soon see this country blanketed by cheap,
high-speed Internet with the potential to change the way Canadians share
information, make cellphone calls and watch TV.

Earlier this month, the FCC launched the "International TV White Spaces
Fellowship and Training Initiative," which aims to educate foreign
regulators about the potential of "white-space" broadcasting -- unused
digital TV channels on the dial.

Unlike other wireless technologies, white spaces are not affected by
concrete, trees or shrubs and do not require a clear line of sight in order
to work.

By using the existing TV broadcasting network, the new technology could
encourage more competition among Internet providers and, possibly, lower
fees for Internet access. Without the need to lease cables or set up new
towers, new Internet providers could set up quickly at low cost and offer
coast-to-coast Internet access.

"Our founder, Larry Page, calls it Wi-Fi on steroids," said Jacob Glick,
Canada policy counsel for Google Inc., which has been one of the most vocal
supporters for white spaces. "For the average person there will be many more
choices on where, how, and how much you pay for your broadband Internet
connection."

The new technology will use the digital TV broadcast rollout in the U.S. as
a medium to distribute Internet signals. Because it's using the broadcasting
network, anyone able to pick up TV signals with a digital antenna will be
able to tap these Internet signals.

Doing so will provide a cheap and effective way of blanketing a country in
high-speed wireless Internet signals.

American digital broadcast TV will replace the rabbit-ears on the existing
analogue TV system as early as Feb. 17, although legislation that cleared
Congress yesterday, and still needs President Barack Obama's signature,
delays that changeover until June.

Canada is to shut off analogue TV in 2011, and white-space technology could
be implemented here at that time. That's why Canadian regulators are
listening intently to their U.S. colleagues.

"Industry Canada is closely monitoring the developments, and testing that is
ongoing in the U.S., with regards to the use of TV white-space spectrum,"
said Stéfanie Power, a spokeswoman for Industry Canada.

"The department discusses this issue with the FCC on a regular bilateral
basis and we will evaluate the situation if the U.S. eventually has a
successful implementation."

The FCC has researched white spaces for years and wants to share its
findings about the technology.

"It is important that we continue to support ways to expand consumers'
access to cutting-edge wireless products," said former FCC chairman Kevin
Martin in a news release. "This program will help us to achieve those
goals."

New cellular phones are being planned that would operate independently of
existing networks, and would instead access the Internet through white-space
technologies and send and receive calls over the web. High-definition TV
broadcasts and movies can be streamed through white spaces directly to a
person's laptop, BlackBerry
or iPhone.

"It takes images and sound and sends them great distances with no
distortion," said Jake Ward, a spokesman for the Wireless Innovation
Alliance, which has been lobbying for white-space technology to be approved
for general use. "Given we have this empty space and you can move
information further and faster, this is incredibly important to the wireless
industry."

The FCC's board of directors unanimously approved the technology for use in
November.

The emergence of the new technology adds a twist to the upcoming hearings on
new media, which are being held by the Canadian Radio-television and
Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). The federal regulator is trying to
decide whether it should start regulating content on the Internet in the
same way it regulates TV programming.

Strict rules regarding Canadian content apply to traditional broadcasters.
Until now, the CRTC has taken a hands-off approach to Internet broadcasts.

The CRTC hearing begins on Feb. 17.

Technologies such as white spaces are forcing the CRTC to re-visit its
position on Internet content, as more consumers watch TV and movies on the
web --
a trend that white spaces will accelerate.

The CRTC refused to comment on the technology directly, but a spokesman said
the agency is watching the white-space rollout and communicating regularly
with the FCC.

Google, Microsoft, Dell, Hewlett-Packard and Phillips Electronics are all
backing the white-space technology. According to industry experts, cellular
phone and computer manufacturers will roll out products capable of receiving
and sending information over white-space technologies within 18 months.

Sales may be lost in translation

Top of the day to you!  I'm Donna J. Jodhan, president of www.sterlingcreations.ca.
Today, I am here to shine the spotlight on how sales could easily be lost in translation.

Sales May Be Lost In Translation

Be very careful the next time you decide to display bilingual signs.  What I mean is this:  If for example you have a sign in Spanish, be sure to have the correct English translation equivalent.  Just one small slip can cause you a loss of business.

Please do not get me wrong:  I truly believe in having signs displayed in more than one language if indeed the business is located in a multi cultural area.  In fact, it can reap many benefits and bring in many new customers but be very careful.  If the sign is not correctly translated, it can cause huge problems.  I guess that when deciding as to whether or not to display signs in more than one language, you may want to think of the following:

Is your business located in an area where your potential consumers speak more than one language?

What type of consumer are you trying to attract?  By this I mean, a consumer of a different culture speaking another language?

What are the benefits to displaying signs in more than one language?

I will end by saying this:  Sometimes a business does not have a choice but to display their signs in more than one language because of the laws of the city or country.  I.E, Montreal Canada.  If you would like to read more about this very interesting problem, then check out my reference below.

Thriving in a recession

Greetings!  I'm Jill Christiansen, manager of writing services at www.sterlingcreations.ca.  Today, I would like to share a very insightful article with you.  One that directly points to a silver lining in the present bank of thick dark clouds that are hovering over us.  We could certainly do with some very good news here and why not let the following article help you.  Give it a read and see what you think.
I'm Jill Christiansen your writing services manager wishing you a great day.

Thriving In a Recession

VALUE CHAIN

Understanding satisfaction as customers define it shows how well your value chain meets their expectations.

As bleak reports of economic "doom and gloom" keep coming, the Atticus recession series of special E-Lerts will provide you with hands-on ideas on how to survive, and even thrive during a recession, no matter how deep it might become.

This E-Lert features ways to improve your entire value chain.

How do you know your value chain needs improvement?

The company feels like a "me too" player in the marketplace because there is nothing distinguishing about your product or service.
The business is unable to increase the price charged for its products or services.
The company has a poor relationship with suppliers and vendors.
Customers see you as just one of many potential sources.
Does management ask – and answer – these two key questions?

Do you clearly understand and measure satisfaction issues that customers find critical, and how well does your value chain meet those satisfaction criteria?
Do suppliers treat you, their customer, the same way as they do all of their other accounts?
What strategy allows the business to survive and prosper?

The company understands customer satisfaction issues that are critical to success.
Products and services are aligned fully to meet those needs.
Supervision and control of IT activities.
Customer satisfaction surveys are conducted regularly.
Increasing the value proposition and creating pricing opportunities is how the business focuses on beating competition.
The company works with suppliers to increase their value proposition.
Everyone in the value chain wins, from suppliers through to the end customer.
An example of a well-run supply chain operation.

A lumber mill found that disposing of culled wood and off-cuts was a costly problem.
It started to supply, and then acquired, a nearby operation that produced finger jointed trim board using wood that usually went to a landfill or was burned.
It began selling sawdust and shavings to livestock operators who needed the lumber mill's waste to spread in pens.
Bark was sold as a fuel to a local cement plant.
The company was able to increase profitability by finding markets for waste products, increasing the "value chain" for other businesses not typically thought of as lumber mill customers.

Does the glass ceiling really exist?

Good morning!  We the team at www.sterlingcreations.ca are pleased to bring you an editorial by our president Donna J. Jodhan.
We wish you a great weekend.

Does the glass ceiling really exist?
By Donna J. Jodhan

Let us be honest with ourselves and with each other for just a few seconds.  Does the glass ceiling exist for blind and visually impaired persons in the workplace?  My humble opinion?  A resounding yes.  True it is that there are some employers out there who are genuinely desirous of wanting their blind and visually impaired employees to rise as far and as high as they can in their careers.  However, there are too many others out there who either by choice or unwittingly set the glass ceiling for their blind and visually impaired employees.

The question of the day, is that if you agree that there is a definite glass ceiling in the workplace for blind and visually impaired employees, why?  Is there a glass ceiling for persons with other types of disabilities?  Is there a glass ceiling for women?  In my humble opinion, the answer to all of these questions is yes and here are my thoughts on the matter.
I believe that the glass ceiling exists for us because of an attitude barrier.  There are those who honestly believe that we can fit in, that we can hold up our end, and that we can honestly make a contribution to the workplace but they are really outnumbered by those who honestly believe that we are a hindrance rather than a help.  They do not believe that we can make a contribution and instead of dealing with their hang-ups, they choose to place a glass ceiling over our heads.  They are not prepared to lift this glass ceiling any time soon so it is up to us to break it and how do we do this?

Not an easy task but it is doable.  Through persistence, education, and constant and continuous efforts on our parts.  We need to show by example, we need to develop constructive strategies, and we need to keep cool heads as we go about our objectives.  Things have improved over the past two decades but not nearly enough.  As a blind woman who has worked for some of North America's top companies, I have had the experience of seeing the glass ceiling firsthand so I am speaking from experience.

I'm Donna J. Jodhan wishing you a terrific day and weekend.

Retailers are Beginning to Design Web sites for Disabled Consumers

Hello there!  We your Accessibility team at www.sterlingcreations.ca are pleased to share a very uplifting article with you today.  One that we are sure will be delightful news for persons with special needs.
Want to learn more?  Then you need to read the article below.
Enjoy your day.
Your accessibility team.

Retailers are Beginning to Design Web sites for Disabled Consumers

Internet Retailer, January 20, 2009

Retailers including Canadian Tire Corp. and Home Hardware Stores Ltd. are
making their e-commerce sites more accessible with innovative technology
that provides web page navigation without a conventional keyboard or
computer mouse.

Canadian Tire and Home Hardware Stores have deployed technology from
Essential Accessibility that gives people without full motor skills the
ability to navigate web pages without regular use of a mouse or keyboard.
The software comes in a variety of applications, providing handicapped
computer users multiple ways to control web pages.

"At Home Hardware, we recognize the importance of accessibility in all
dimensions of the customer experience," says CEO Paul Straus. "It's more
than just the right thing to do. It's good business practice."

A disabled shopper, after arranging to download or receive a CD of free
software from the retailer, simply needs to be able to exert pressure on an
electronic device, such as with a fingertip press by someone who can't move
his hand side to side, or, for a paralyzed quadriplegic, with a head
movement.

In one "radar mouse" application, for example, a red line that extends from
the center to the outer edge of a web page slowly circles the page like a
second hand on a watch. Once the shopper sees that the line is approaching a
particular section of a web page-a shirt for sale, for instance-she engages
the finger-or head-activated device to stop the moving line; a second press
of the device will send an icon up the line toward the shirt; when the icon
lands on the desired point of the page, such as the Buy button for the
shirt, the shopper activates a third press of the device to make a purchase.

The same application works with an on-screen keyboard that enables the
disabled shopper to enter information such as billing and shipping
information.

Essential Accessibility charges retailers a flat monthly fee per web site,
depending on traffic volume and page views or other site activity, says
Simon Dermer, managing director.

Other applications support better deployments of technology designed to make
sites more usable by blind people.

SSB Bart Group, for example, provides a web-based accessibility management
platform, which shows whether a web site supports the deployment of
assistive technologies like screen readers that turn images into audio files
for blind people.

Screen readers include JAWS for Windows by Freedom Scientific Inc.,
Window-Eyes from GW Micro Inc., BrowseAloud by Texthelp Systems Ltd., and
Easy Web Browsing from IBM Corp. Microsoft Corp.'s Vista operating system
comes with the built-in Narrator screen reader as well as other tools
including a text magnifier and an on-screen keyboard.

Backroom Deals, Secrecy Make Google A Fallen Hero

Hello there!  It's your Research team at www.sterlingcreations.ca
Today, we would like to focus the light fairly and squarely on our friends at Google.  There is a very interesting article floating around these days that turns on the heat on Google and we urge you to read this article before making up your minds.  After all, one needs to hear all sides before passing judgement.
We hope you find this article interesting.
Have a great day.
Your Research team

Backroom Deals, Secrecy Make Google A Fallen Hero
Jason Lee Miller | Staff Writer

Do Backroom Deals, Secrecy Make Google A Fallen Hero?

On its way up, Google rarely talked about anything--especially its algorithm. The more the company let fans into its world (that is, once the company learned of the power of branding), the more carefully the Googtopia narrative was built, a narrative with a kind of Justice League ring to it--Don't be evil, be good, be transparent, be groovy, man. With recent maneuvers one wonders if those days are over.

The first chink in Google's moral armor came about the same time the company went public, when Sergey Brin, faced with the realities of doing business in China, repealed the Don't Be Evil policy. Sometimes, one might proffer, business requires a little evil to survive. The boardroom ain't exactly Sunday School.

Some time later, thanks to some either uninformed or unapproved chatter from up high in the legal policy ranks, it appeared that Google was reconsidering its stance on Net Neutrality. Those words were taken back post haste by those who understand public relations better than lawyers. We troubledly pondered beneath that brief flicker of doubt if good companies going public meant that shareholder demands would outweigh the company's commitment to certain core values and need for geek credibility, if entangling alliances as meganational corporations collided and dealt in the online space would crush Google's popular Internet romanticism.

No, no, there's Vinton Cerf still pounding the Net Neutrality pulpit.

And there again is Google playing hardball with AT&T and Verizon on the wireless spectrum front. Open access, open applications, open everything, and Google came out as the Internet's white knight fighting for public policy that was actually good for the public instead of a handful of gatekeepers. Even there, though, was the creeping suspicion that's Google's business interests happened to coincide with our own idealism.

There was a time when Google seemed happy even to litigate--Eric Schmidt in Japan comes to mind, speaking on how lawsuits are just a modern day business expense--and turned up its righteous nose at complaints over Google Book Search, over merely snippeting and linking to Associated Press content, with image indexing precedents in the back pocket. Google's fights were our fights, and the Web grew because of them.

But then something changed, and it seems to have started to change about the same time Google bought YouTube. Those lawsuits Google didn't mind so much started coming in billions rather than millions thanks to Viacom's aggressive litigation. Google boldly stepped to the courtroom rather than settle--how could they settle with so much on the line?--but since then the company seems to have shrunk away from such battles.

Next the AP gets a deal. Then book publishers. Google, our champion, then became beholden to the dreaded DMCA notice, shoveled out of entertainment company lawyer offices and into the broken URLs of shallow-pocketed fair-use believers all over the Net. The sudden timidity was new, even shocking. Where was Google when Congress handed the entertainment industry even more power last summer? Well, it's been said for some time Google evolved from search company to media company. Fair use, even when applied to indexing or user-generated content (Google's two biggest presences) is no longer the most prudent business option, and those fights are best left to nonprofits and the academia from which Google spawned.

Part of that could be the economy, which has GOOG stock at disappointing levels despite killing estimates, which has led to layoffs, cuts in food budgets, and--quelle horreur--Google reportedly stocking only domestic beer for Friday beer bashes. Lots of companies are sacrificing in this economy, and Google's sudden fear of litigation could be part of that also.

But what's more disturbing for those of who've idolized Google as a company for so long is the marked increase in quiet maneuvering and apparent backroom deals--which always get leaked, of course. Apple and Google in secret anti-Microsoft, no-touch-screen-for-the-Google-Phone cahoots, for example, or Google deleting Blogspot posts without notice or explanation at the music industry's request, or, our digital paperless hero, filing on paper only with SEC about engineer layoffs in a lame attempt to keep it out of the press--which one can no longer read on Google's special AP news page.

Sigh. Is this the end of our transparent, fight-the-good-fight Justice League Google and the beginning of more Microsoft-like, fight-the-good-fight-only-if-it-makes-fiduciary-sense meganational media super-giant Google? Have we lost another one to the almighty faceless shareholder?

It may be a necessary evolution that a company like Google—whom we love for various reasons, not the least of which is they still do good things via Google.org and other outlets—become more like Microsoft if the company expects to compete with Microsoft. But we hope, once the economic smoke clears, Google returns to that turpitude which propelled it to Microsoft competitor status, to that which drove Microsoft mad with jealousy, despite being very unlike Microsoft.

That's the Google we love, hope, and root for.

Not enough languages on the Internet?

Top of the day to you!  I'm Donna J. Jodhan, president of www.sterlingcreations.ca.
Today, I would like to address the topic of languages on the Internet.

Not Enough Languages on the Web?

Ever wondered what are the three most spoken languages on the Internet?  Have you ever stopped to think how you can use this info to your advantage?  Most important of all, have you ever given thought to how you can use this info to beat your competitors to the punch?

In today's fast-moving markets, it is really important for you to be able to identify the three most spoken languages on the Internet so that you will not be wasting precious resources marketing your products and services.  If you have this knowledge safely tucked away in your back pocket, the next step is for you to develop marketing strategies aimed at specific types of consumers in specific parts of the world.

Having this type of info at your fingertips will allow you to utilize your time more effectively.  You will be able to develop more effective marketing strategies, design products and services that will be targeted to consumers who are seeking your business, and reach those consumers who can offer you real demand.   Not having this info at your fingertips will only serve to make you just an ordinary company that is not sure which markets are real.

Think of it like this:  If you are able to determine the three top languages spoken on the Internet, then you can chart a course that is more accurate and concise.  If you do not have this vital info, then your chart will probably look like a map that is filled with crisscrossing lines; unreadable, confusing, cluttered, and a mish mash of squiggles.  I am going to close by giving you a reference to check out.  One that will provide you with the three top languages spoken on the Internet.

Not Enough Languages on the Web?

By gbarto(gbarto)

Speaking of Wikipedia, if you take the figures in this article, there are around 1.2 billion Chinese speakers, 850 million English speakers and 400 million Spanish speakers. That's nearing 2.5 billion people. Take the larger estimate ...

So you want to Retire... or you're already Retired?

Hello there!  It's your Sterling Creations Business team and this week we would like to kick off things with a really interesting article that comes from a very impeccable source.
This article is for those who are either retired or are about to retire.
We wish you a great day.
Your Business team

So you want to Retire... or you're already Retired?

So what happens to your portfolio if the Market continues to tank for the next couple years?
Read on My Friends to find out how you can Collect Safely WITHOUT Buying Stocks, or Options...

Dear Gryphon Financial Reader,

Before I continue further, let's get something out in the open. This newsletter does not guarantee or make any claim that you will be "doubling your money" or that you will make "triple digit gains" overnight.

But here's the good news. I am able to show you a way of investing your hard earned money where it can mature SECURELY and STEADILY... no matter what the market does... Whether it goes Up or Down for months or years! IT DOESN'T MATTER!!

Allow me to introduce you to a new investment newsletter service that is proven to be more valuable in this market than any other out there.

Our latest recommendations from this service have prized 12% and 17% over the last five weeks... while stocks have gotten demolished!

And you should also know that these recommendations did NOT require playing stocks short or buying them at all... it also didn't entail buying currencies,..options...commodities... or government bonds either!

Hope you're not worried, because this is just as easy as buying Stocks or Options I assure you.

This venture offers shelter and great profits. What could be better right now? This method can give you your peace of mind back...you can sit back and relax knowing your money is safe...without having to worry about what the markets are doing...How's that sound?

One of the Safest Ways to Invest Right Now
This is the best alternative to stocks and the market that will enable your portfolio's growth, adding to it double-digit profits, year after year...without risk, without dealing with a dormant bear market.

The plan, well it's called the, "Corporate PAYBACK System". It is the only way for you to gain 10% - 50% (or maybe even more!) in a brief time period. I can't think of a better time for you to move your money into a safer and more consistent venture then right now!

Allow me to explain ...

The Most Reliable, Certain, Steady, Trustworthy and Loyal Investment being Exposed
Just mull over a small amount of the various advantages of this approach:

Obtain Compensation Even during a Catastrophe - Market lunges... terrorist attack... pathetic financial news... reduced earnings... you still get compensated!
Returns AND Security - Receive profit s that surpass the stock market, with limited danger and practically no instability
Broaden your Horizons - Effortlessly extend your assets across numerous and diverse segments of the financial system
Predictable and Consistent Earnings - Your profits are mandatory by law and distributed to you on an exact day. A relief to know how much and when you are getting paid!
Bare Minimum Investment - With just $5,000 to $10,000 you will be able to out of harm's way using this system
PASSIVE Income=Capital Gains - Earn reactive income, while  producing generous capital gains

Escape From the Most Treacherous Market Of Our Lifetime
My mind just can't recall a more challenging and problematical market than the one we are encountering on a daily basis. Anyone can profit from a bull market, No? But this is extremely difficult to deal with. Our markets fluctuate so uncontrollably it is almost impossible to avoid the exploitation, the emotional swings, the innuendoes and the government involvement...no one is safe!

So...with all that said I am absolutely elated to be introducing you to system you can use that will afford you the same or better profits that stocks do, but without all the volatility and the risk!

QUESTION #1
Retirement... Are You Ready? This may be your last window of Opportunity to secure your FUTURE
If you're like me, within a decade of retiring - or you're retired already - do you think you can risk being a victim of today's market? The system I am speaking about can get you those market returns you so desire...but you won't have to keep running to your computer every time the market plummets. You will be able to rest easy every night...no more market anxiety...no more having to ponder over when to sell or if you should buy at all. Investing the "Corporate Payback System" way won't leave you cringing on a daily basis.

One of the Safest Ways to Invest Right Now
So, do you want to know about "Corporate Payback System"...?

CORPORATE BONDS!
Short term-Investment Grade Corporate Bonds

You may have to consider the downward market swing and get heavily invested in corporate bonds for the sake of your savings, for the sake of your future.

Listen to what some others have to say...

"High- quality bonds pay off even for the most cautious investor"
"With many investors terrified of the stock market and afraid to touch anything but U.S. Treasuries, investment advisers are trying to steer clients into bonds that are paying higher interest, while still being light on risk: the safest municipal bonds and high-quality corporate bonds... Shorter-term bonds can be even more attractive." Gail MarksJarvis, www.BondsOnline.com

Don't Forget About Corporate Bonds
By MICHAEL KAHN "With their intense popularity, Treasuries lack a proper payoff. But investment-grade, company-issued bonds are starting to look attractive again."

"Money also found its way into highly rated corporate bonds, with the iShares iBoxx $ Investment Grade Corporate Bond Fund ...up 1.0%, or 87 cents, at $88.47"    Javier Espinoza and Lisa LaMotta, www.Forbes.com

"BONDS are not Boring nor are they slow in growth! Most wealthy people...I'm talking about Multi-Millionaires and Billionaires know better.  If they are carefully picked, BONDS yield high income, large profits and protect your capital.

AIG...LEHMAN...Bear Stearns... Shareholders Wiped Out... Bondholders Still Get Paid!

Your Very Own Personal Bond Professional...
At Your Assistance!
In the last couple years, the readers of Gryphon Financial have asked me time and time again, when we would  have a service and newsletter that catered to Bond trading, something that recommended safe, high profit, low risk Bonds.
Being as the market is these days, I knew there is no time like the present. Although these things take time, I mean finding the right person for the job. Bonds are an area of expertise, I needed a skilled "authority" to distribute this guidance to our faithful readers. Well without further ado allow me to introduce you to Gryphon's newest guru...

David Sparks. Who we kindly refer to as "Sparky"

David Sparks a familiar name I am sure you know, worked with one of our largest competitors, who I dare not name, where he was the Chief Editor and Bond Trader for the last 5 years. David's specialty has been in Investment Speaking. With a retirement aged clientele, David's specialty quickly became centered around conservative investments and bonds. He is an accomplished risk management professional and is more than ideal for the task at hand.

GET EXCITED BY FORGETTING THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE OF THE MARKET
Here's what you need to know...

There are several ways companies raise money for their operations, expansions or improvements. They 1. Go through their existing return, 2. By releasing new stock, or 3. By borrowing money through bonds.

David will be recommending "INVESTMENT GRADE" Bonds. These bonds are issued by companies who have the best of credit and are the safest bets. These bonds are some of the best investments in the world when it comes to low risk and high gain. When you begin to invest in Bonds you will be joining some very influential groups. Groups like major financial institutions, pension funds and insurance companies.

So...How Will You Make Money...
All Bonds are issued at a value of $1000.00. With time of course, there are numerous aspects in the market that may cause a Bond to trade for less than its value. This being called a "discount" allots the trader to be paid the discount amount to be paid out at its maturity. David's forte is recommending Bonds that are trading at a discount. This is how you will be able to secure profitable gains, plus interest. THIS IS TOTAL EARNINGS!
Watch how it works...

An Example of a Company that is Legally Obligated
to pay You 40%...
David is presently recommending a Bond from a very well know, and reputable company. The Bond cost today is $795 and it does not mature until January 2010. The interest due on this bond is a rate of 7.75%, which is due in January and again in June of 2009, and again in January of 2010.So, you would receive three payments of $116.25 in interest and the face value of $1000 in January of 2010, which corresponds to a profit of $205.
Mathematically...

BOND COST = $795

INTEREST AND PROFIT = $321.25

=40.4% TOTAL RETURN or 32.3% ANNUAL RETURN

Sure beats losing money in the stock market!

I'm Proud to Present to You
The Bond Authority

Message from the president

Dear readers:

Spring is here and with it comes the hope for good things to happen.  Spring is one of my favourite times of the year because it signifies the awakening of nature's wonders after a long and brutal winter.

Like so many other small companies, this has been a very brutal quarter for us and as expected we have had to make several adjustments in order to deal with the economic down turn.  Nevertheless, we continue to toil away with the hope that things will start to improve soon.  Our quarter has been one of the toughest that we have ever had to face in our company's 15 year history but there are a few things that we would like to share with you.

On behalf of the Sterling Creations team I thank you for your continuing support and feedback because with it we can only get better and without it our hopes will only dwindle.

Best wishes for spring 2009.

Donna J. Jodhan, president

The first quarter in review

As mentioned by our president, the first quarter of this year was one of the toughest for us but among the dark clouds there were some silver linings.  Our teams continued to toil away and thanks to their hard work, we managed to gain some new clients.

Our writing team was kept busy in the first quarter writing and editing for the staff at www.untappedwealth.com, providing services to the business desk page.  In addition, they continued to support Donna Jodhan with her blogs.  The writing team also managed to snag two clients in Britain and resumed work on a major project to ghost write and edit a fiction book for a client in Scotland.

Our translation and research teams also managed to stay ahead of the game by finding new clients in Europe.  The translation team continued its work with clients from Spain and right here in Canada and the research team broke some new ground in the United States by picking up some new clients.

Our accessibility team spent most of the first quarter engaged in marketing activities and it expects to continue doing the same for the second quarter.  At the present time, the accessibility arena is quite placid due to the present economic down turn.

Our president continued her efforts to make things happen.  In March, she traveled with her friend and associate Sambhavi Chandrashekar to the CSUn conference in Los Angeles where they jointly presented a paper on A Framework to Support Online Credibility Evaluation by Web Users with Vision Loss.

The presentation was a huge success and both Donna and Sambhavi managed to establish some very vital contacts within the accessibility field.

Sambhavi is a PHD student at the University of Toronto and is on schedule to graduate in April of 2010 and it is hoped that she and Donna would find ways to continue to work together.  Donna is extremely grateful to Sambhavi for having invited her to co-present this paper.

Donna also managed to gain the attention of the Alliance for the Equality of Blind Canadians and at the suggestion of John Rae, first vice president of the AEBC, Donna has decided to run for the office of second vice president of the AEBC at their upcoming elections which will be held during the AEBC's agm in Vancouver British Columbia.  Donna has been asked to deliver the keynote address at this meeting.

Our unstoppable president has also been busy with other activities.  She launched a new blog in early March entitled "Donna Jodhan!  Advocating accessibility for all" and you can view this blog at www.donnajodhan.blogspot.com.  She is also quite busy with one of her favourite pastimes; chess.  At the present time she is involved in an international tournament as part of a North American team against players from South Africa.  She has just won her first game and is hoping to defeat her opponent in the return game.

On March 31, Donna was cross examined by lawyers from the Canadian government as part of her ongoing charter challenge against the Federal Government.  The day went well for Donna and her team and we are all hoping that this case has a favourable outcome for all stakeholders.  Donna has launched a charter challenge against the Canadian government to get them to make their websites accessible to all Canadians; especially to those with visual impairments.

This charter challenge was launched in June of 2007 after the Federal Government refused to make their websites accessible to blind and visually impaired Canadians.  As part of her team, Donna has been fortunate to obtain the services of Jutta Treviranus, one of the leading W3c experts.  Jutta is most renowned for her expertise internationally and Donna is extremely grateful to Jutta for her commitment to this charter challenge.

Print industry to worsen before any improvements:  experts

Tuesday, March 3, 2009 | 4:24 PM ET

Declining North American newspaper readership and ad revenues are not a new
phenomenon, but the economic downturn has dealt an additional blow to the
already-struggling industry - and there's more dire news likely to come,
according to print industry leaders.

"There's no mystery: they're dying," Gary Kamiya, co-founder, former
executive editor and writer-at-large of Salon.com, said in a discussion on
CBC Radio's Q on Tuesday.

'"The death of newspapers means the death of reporting. There's been no
business model that's been created so far that allows reporting online to be
sustainable in a financial way.'-Gary Kamiya, co-founder Salon.com

Amid the ongoing job losses reported in countless employment sectors, there
have been an increasing number of media layoffs, plunging profit revelations
and newspaper closures affecting outlets in Canada and the U.S.

South of the border, examples include the Christian Science Monitor ending
its print edition, the Washington Post announcing that its fourth-quarter
profit plunged 77 per cent, more than 30 U.S. dailies seeking Chapter 11
bankruptcy protection since January, plus the closure of Denver's Rocky
Mountain News.

Meanwhile, in Canada, job cuts have affected media giants Torstar, Canwest,
Sun Media, CTVglobemedia, Transcontinental and independents like the
Chronicle Herald in Halifax.

"The death of newspapers means the death of reporting. There's been no
business model that's been created so far that allows reporting online to be
sustainable in a financial way," Kamiya said from San Francisco.

Toronto Star publisher John Cruickshank, former publisher of CBC News,
pointed to the large debt carried by many U.S. newspaper firms, as well as
Canadian media company Canwest, as a fundamental problem.

Need to create value in mix of media

With even the venerable New York Times struggling to make a profit, what
every print outlet is racing toward is "how we can find a new mix of news on
several different media and to create a model there," said Cruickshank,
speaking from Q 's Toronto studio.

While the print industry might have to face producing newspapers for a
smaller market, companies must also create online products that people will
value, read and pay for, he said.

Despite sites like CBC.ca and Thestar.com having "millions of unique viewers
each month," he agreed with Kamiya that news outlets still haven't figured
out how to be profitable "on the 'net, yet."

Subsidizing newspapers is one option, though Kamiya pointed out that to
sustain the current operations of the New York Times, it's estimated that
the paper would need an endowment of approximately $5 billion US.

While Cruickshank said he feels a publicly subsidized newspaper might work
because there are people willing to pay for investigative and conventional
reporting, he specified that the industry must also pay attention to the
audience's changing definition of news.

"The issue, it seems to me, is not so much 'Do people want newspapers?' as
'Do they want news?' and 'What's the definition of the news they want?'
That's changed really remarkably over the last decade."

Tough times ahead

"Newspapers are floundering desperately around and they're searching for new
ways out [of the current crisis]. I don't think they've found them yet,"
Kamiya said.

"[However,] the thought of the gallows concentrates the mind wonderfully and
I think you're going to see a lot of changes in the newspaper industry. We
don't know what they'll be yet."

Cruickshank predicted there will be more bad news before the eventual good.

"We're gonna see fallout of the sort that we saw when television entered the
market and killed, what, about half the newspapers in North America," he
said.

"We're living through a period of creative destruction. We did with the
advent of television and the end of afternoon newspapers, evening
newspapers," Cruickshank said, adding however that, "There will be new forms
that evolve as a result and I think, ultimately, that people will be well
served by them."

Bloggers: How Much Excerpting Is Fair Use?

Good morning to you!  It's your Research team at www.sterlingcreations.ca and today we invite you to enter into the world of blogs and blogging because we have an article for you that will definitely help to clear up a lot of the cobwebs in your mind when it comes to this growing world of activity.
Come with us now and read this very informative article.
We wish you a great day.
Your Research team

Bloggers: How Much Excerpting Is Fair Use?
Tuesday, March 03, 2009
Fair use is back in the news courtesy of a New York Times article on publishers being unhappy with the use of excerpts of their content. The main focal point of the article is Henry Blodget of Silicon Alley Insider, who recently quoted a WSJ columnist.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Editor's Note: The practice of excerpting web content and linking to the original source has been going on nearly as long as the web has been in mainstream use. Yet to this day the concept is still argued about even on a legal level. In your opinion , how much content should a blogger be allowed to excerpt from another source while linking to that source?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It did not get to the point where Blodget was hassled over it. He used his own judgment and trimmed the excerpt down himself after using one that was five paragraphs long. "No, DJ did not contact us," Blodget tells WebProNews. "I reread the post a few minutes after posting and decided to trim it."

So there's not exactly an issue there, but the concept remains a hot issue nonetheless. We are of course reminded of when Gatehouse Media recently filed a suit against the NYT Company itself when Boston.com published headlines and ledes from one of Gatehouse's sites (it was ultimately settled out of court). And let's not forget the AP's legacy of content stinginess.

Some have called the practice of quoting other sources and using said quotes on pages that contain advertisements, scraping. However, this is a far cry from what real scraper sites do in stealing entire articles, often without credit or links to the original given.

No, Blodget and the Huffington Post (also cited in the NYT article), and many others including the NYT itself, WebProNews, and probably the majority of blogs and online publications you read all practice the quoting of other sources with links and proper attribution.

This argument is almost as old as the Web itself. iEntry CEO and WebProNews publisher Rich Ord founded the Internet's first news aggregation site NewsLinx.com back in 1996 and recalls the same issues then as now. Rich says, "I was contacted by nearly every major news site when I launched NewsLinx including the New York Times and Wall Street Journal and was asked with an aggresive tone if I had permission to link to their stories. I always answered that I did not and that I would remove the links if they liked. They universally told me to keep linking. Even then they realized the value of the exposure outweighed their old style control over what I considered fair use of their content."

The real beef (at least currently) stems from the doom and gloom attitude about the state of the online advertising industry, and the newspaper industry itself. Publishers are afraid of losing readers (aka ad viewers) to the blogs and sites that are quoting their content.

Nevermind the fact that as Brian Stelter at the NYT notes, these blogs/sites are actually opening up the original sources to other readers who would not have gotten to the them in the first place had they not followed a link from the blog/site doing the quoting.

The "original sources" are more concerned about those readers of secondary sources that don't click through to their sites. Another point I have often seen made in this discussion is that in the end, even the most original sources had to get their information from somewhere.

The most valuable articles are ones that bring together related points, and often these points have been made by others first. In the news industry, stories break from all kinds of different sources, and in the interest of keeping readers informed, other publications do not want to ignore the news. It seems only logical and courteous to give credit where credit is due via a quote and a link.

Blogging is not going away. In fact it will likely continue to grow. If publishers take action to eliminate the excerpting, it will likely just result in more uncredited regurgitation. A lot of trust in content will probably be lost as a result of a lack of accreditation. To me it seems this would only hurt the industry as a whole.

Your website is driving away non-English speaking customers

Top of the day to you out there!  I'm Donna J. Jodhan and today I would like to shine the spotlight on how your website is doing when it comes to either driving away or attracting non English-speakking customers.

Your website is driving away non-English speaking customers

Did you know that English is the fourth most spoken language in the world today?  This may be a big shock for many of you to hear but according to many International experts, it is.  The top three spoken languages are:  Mandarin Chinese, Hindi, and Spanish.  This is probably why so many companies often find themselves in difficulty when they are unable to detect why it is their well-written English web content has failed to attract consumers from other countries.  So many companies continue to assume that English is the language of the Internet and it is still the main language of business but when it comes to the most popularly spoken language, it is not.

As I continue to stress, consumers generally like to do business with those companies that are able to produce web content in their native language and they are even more impressed when the web content is appropriately translated to reflect their native tongue. If you take a minute to think about it:  You are an English-speaking consumer and you would like to buy a product that is produced in Japan.  You visit the website to purchase your product but when you get there you discover to your chagrin that the website does not have any English content.  It is totally written in Japanese.  You do not speak Japanese and consequently you are unable to make your purchase.  What will you do in order to facilitate your purchase?  More than likely you will search for another website, one that has been written in English, and one that sells the same or a similar product.

For future reference, you will probably not revisit the previous website and you know what?  That company has just lost your business for good and it does not end there.  You will undoubtedly tell your friends and family about that particular website and lo and behold!  That company is going to lose other potential consumers.  If only it had had the foresight to have developed its website in other languages.

I am going to leave you with a reference to investigate.

Your website is driving away non-English speaking customers ...

Trouble is, when you're talking native tongue, English is the fourth most-spoken language in the world behind Mandarin Chinese, Hindi, and Spanish. If you want to leave out approximately 3.2 billion non-English speakers, go ahead, ...

PENNY STOCKS FOR THE SERIOUS SMALL-CAP INVESTOR

By the time everyone else catches on, You've already made your fortune!

Canada's Public Infrastructure isn't as nearly bad or as costly as the U.S's, however with far less in population and industry doesn't mean the investment opportunities are far less, in fact they may be greater. Here's why...

In 2007 the Canadian government decided to allocate $1,000.00 per person to fix their entire infrastructure in a 7 year time period. That's $33 BILLION! Their roads, bridges, tunnels, inadequate water and waste systems, schools, dams etc. will be fixed and added to by private companies. And they say this is just the beginning. The gap in funding is between $44-$125 BILLION- that's what their entire existing infrastructure is worth. They want to do all this, matching what they have spent previously while adding new trade systems to gain access to Asian markets.

THE INFASTRUCTURE BOOM!!!!!!

Aecon Group Inc. (ARE:TSX) a Canadian leader in the Toronto area is the company we believe that will benefit the most. This company's abilities include road, highway and airport construction, paving, building dams, tunnels and transport systems, as well as utility (water and sewer) construction, telecommunication network and gas projects. They not only care for such projects but they also, maintain, manage and upgrade as well. To top it all off their building segment includes commercial building, schools, hospitals and government buildings, their industrial includes pipe manufacturing and electricity generation facilities that range from nuclear to fossil to hydroelectric!

This breakout company has even dived into international projects that include building Quito, Ecuador's new airport and Isreal's new cross-country highway.

"YOU can easily see the BIG PICTURE"
A traders mistake may cost a lot, An Investors who sits and waits the cost is a thousand times more. CAUTIOUS and EXACT THINKING will cost millions more!

It's Cost Effective

THE STARTLING FACT ABOUT HOW TO MAKE MONEY WITH CHINESE EDUCATION

Well call me crazy!

For the Chinese, an educated population is a matter of pride. More and more of them are leaving their humble roots in agriculture and onto the big city lights where they dream of blue-collar positions, and western lifestyle. But the only way to afford such positions is to pass through a bit of education--- and they are by the millions!

For example, the number of Chinese that migrated to the cities in search of education has grown from 850,000 in 1978 to over 15,000,000 in 2007. The soaring numbers are looking for new employment opportunities and education. China schools can't keep up with this education demand and failing miserably.

CHINA EDUCATION CORP. (CEDU:NASDAQ) is the company making huge strides in providing educational online degree programs for various majors for both preprimary and college students alike. And get this, they have exclusive contracts with many existing Chinese schools, securing their revenue for many years to come. This is a seasonal buy and hold move.

Your future consumers

Hello there and a very happy Easter to you!  We the team at www.sterlingcreations.ca are pleased to bring you an editorial this weekend that is inspiring, realistic, and one that can definitely help you to identify your future consumers.
Written by our president Donna J. Jodhan, this editorial will definitely help you to get ahead of your competition.
Have a great weekend.

Your future consumers

It often makes me smile whenever clients ask me the following question:  Who do you think our future consumers could be?

I smile because it is o so obvious to me but in reality to many it is still very much of a mystery.  In my opinion, the future consumers, the bread and butter consumers to the majority of companies will be the aging baby boomer.  Not many industries will be able to avoid this type of consumer and it would probably be a wise idea for companies to start preparing.  I am not going to name all of the industries that will be inundated by the needs and demands of the aging boomer consumer but I will give a few examples.  Before doing so however, let me just clarify a bit for you.  The aging baby boomer consumer is one that is going to mature into the senior and retiree so in essence we have to look at a picture of an aging baby boomer maturing into a retiree and senior.

The types of industries that will have to react to this type of consumer would include:  The travel industry, the anti-aging health industry, the health and medical industry, the food industry, and even the clothing industry.  Habits and preferences are going to start shifting and companies within these industries will also have to shift to suit.   In addition, colleges and universities will have to start tailoring their courses to accommodate this new type of consumer and students themselves will have to start adopting a new approach.

The aging baby boomer consumer is not going to go away and this is a fact of life that we all have to realize.  Their needs and demands are only going to increase so we might as well face it and meet it.  The landscape is changing and if we want to remain in business then we have to change too!  So that when the folks at A & P Canada now called Metro tell their customers that they are not in the business to help customers, they are in the business to sell groceries, they should probably rethink this statement.

Friendships on the decline as pace of life quickens

Hello there!  We your accessibility team would like to close off this week with an article that speaks directly to the heart when it comes to how technology is taking ahold of our time and life.  It is affecting our ability to socialize and we hope you find time to read this article.
We wish you a happy Easter holiday weekend.

Face to face interactions

Friendships on the decline as pace of life quickens; Canadians have
fewer friends and see them less: research

Shannon Proudfoot
Ottawa Citizen, Jan. 17, 2009

Our friendship networks are shrinking, a mounting body of evidence suggests,
a social erosion that's linked to factors ranging from longer work hours to
a population on the move.

"I don't think there's any doubt that the intensity and the number of
face-to-face interactions is decreasing," says James White, a professor of
sociology at the University of British Columbia.

The pace of life has accelerated, he says, and people work longer and harder
to maintain the same standard of living. At the same time, technology acts
as a "buffer," Mr. White says, recalling a recent short-haul flight where no
one spoke to their seatmates, but the cabin erupted into one-sided
conversations the second the plane landed and everyone could turn their
cellphones on.

Statistics Canada figures indicate the proportion of Canadians reporting
they have at least two friends has dropped across almost all demographics in
recent years. Among the 45-to-64 age group that includes most baby boomers,
for example, about 85 per cent said they had at least a couple of friends in
1990, but that proportion fell to about 82 per cent by 2006.

The two exceptions to the trend are women under 25 and senior men, who
enjoyed the biggest increase in their social stock. In 2006, 74 per cent of
men aged 75 and older said they had two or more friends, up from 68 per cent
in 1990.

Just 33 per cent of Canadians in the largest urban centres say they know all
or some of their neighbours, according to StatsCan, although in small
communities and rural areas that swells to 69 per cent. Just 53 per cent say
that people can generally be trusted, while 43 per cent say "one cannot be
too careful."

A 2006 study from Duke University and the University of Arizona found the
number of people who have no one with whom they can discuss important
matters nearly doubled in 20 years, to one-quarter of the population. The
mean number of friends with whom people said they could have a
heart-to-heart dropped by almost one-third, to 2.08 in 2004 from 2.94 in
1985.

Barry Wellman, a sociology professor at the University of Toronto, argues
that technology enables people to connect more through informal channels
such as the grassroots mobilization that helped propel Barack Obama into the
White House. If anything, the Internet has encouraged regular contact with a
wider, looser web of acquaintances than before, he says.

"People have somewhat more specialized in their relationships," Mr. Wellman
says. "The people you rely on for emotional aid are different than the
people you rely on for borrowing a cup of sugar or taking care of you when
you're sick."

In some cases, people are using technology to shore up their real-life
social reserves.

The singles' social club Meet Market Adventures includes 120,000 members --
two-thirds of them Canadian -- in 13 cities, including Vancouver, Ottawa,
Montreal, Winnipeg, Calgary and Edmonton. Sam Gruszecki, director of
strategic initiatives, says with events ranging from board game tournaments
to rock climbing, the focus is on meeting new friends rather than dating,
and the prime age group is mid-20s to late-40s.

"I think in general, we're more closed-off as a society," he says. "We're
very focused on online interaction. You can spend your workday not talking

Is brand the key to ranking on Google?

Hello there!  We the research team at www.sterlingcreations.ca would like to share an article with you this week that focuses on the inner workings of Google.  Yes, that big bad giant and we hope that you take time to read.
We wish you a happy and peaceful Easter.
Your research team.

Is brand the key to ranking on Google?
Thursday, February 26, 2009
A recent SEOBook article highlights a good deal of evidence that Google is placing more emphasis on brands than ever before. Author Aaron Wall takes an in depth look at how Google's algorithm has evolved over his own SEO career, and points out some hints Google has provided in the media as to where its headed before answering a few questions from me for this article.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Editor's Note: Building your brand is obviously an important element in the success of your business. It also may play a more significant role in your Google rankings than ever before. Have you noticed an increased focus on brand in top Google results?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He cites Google CEO Eric Schmidt's comments about branding being the cure to cleaning up the "Internet Cesspool" and a quote of his from the company's most recent earnings call in which he said, "Wouldn't it be nice if Google understood the meaning of your phrase rather than just the words that are in that phrase? We have a lot of discoveries in that area that [we] are going to roll out in the next little while."

Here is the text of my discussion with Aaron Wall:

Chris Crum: With Google giving big brands so much attention, how does the little guy stand a chance?

Aaron Wall: They will always have some balance to the search results, but part of the longterm search game is going to come down to building a brand. Keep in mind the current brand changes are mostly happening for core industry keywords, and smaller websites will still be able to get decent exposure by working longtail keywords.

CC: You say the January 18th Google Update was bigger than Florida, but few people noticed it. Why do you think that is?

AW: Well the Florida update was a big update with a more violent change in the overall rankings, but it just required a few more technical hoops to jump through. Building a brand is time consuming and difficult...it is much more difficult than jumping through a few more algorithmic hoops. If Google expands on this front many people who have a mechanical approach to SEO and online marketing will be looking for a new job in the not too distant future. ;)

I think few people noticed this update because there was a smaller change in rankings, and many of the search results are relevant sites that are logical to rank...whereas with the Florida update some of the sites that were ranking were quite off topic, or only near matches.

CC: I'm intrigued by the other point you pulled from Schmidt's earnings call about Google understanding the meaning of your phrases rather than just the words. Clearly this would greatly increase relevancy on a lot of searches if they are able to get it right. How close do you think they are to being able to pull this off?

AW: They still have a long way to go to get where they want to be with relevancy, but some of the issue of search is simply creating the incentive to make people want to create the content that really answers search queries well in a good format. Sometimes I see Matt Cutts post great how to posts about how do different things in Ubuntu. I believe he does that in part to feed answers into the search engine, especially if/when it did not provide an answer that was as good as he would like.

Another big issue is information accuracy...which is yet another reason they might want to put a lot of weight on brand.

Sidenote (CC): With regards to relevancy and branding, there are some interesting possibilties on the way as ICANN begins accepting more new generic Top-Level Domains. This is discussed in the following exclusive WPN interview between SEOMoz's Sarah Bird and Clarke Walton of Walton Law Firm:

CC: Do you think this (Google recognizing meaning over words) is something the majority of searchers want to see happen or do you think they would prefer to have to specify their own searches further?

AW: We like to feel like we are in control, but we under-estimate our own laziness. People prefer Google to be sophisticated under the hood rather than having to re-query again.

Thanks to Aaron for talking with me. Read his article "Google's New Search Engine Rankings Place Heavy Emphasis on Branding". It's full of illustrated examples, and I think you'll find it quite interesting.

Chinese translations

Top of the day to you out there!  I'm Donna J. Jofdhan, president of www.sterlingcreations.ca.
Today I would like to shine the light on China.

Chinese translations

Despite the present global economic crisis, China may very well still be a good place for Western investors to consider.  The Chinese economy is still growing but at a slower pace these days and the Chinese government is doing everything in its power to ensure that growth continues.

There is no doubt that Chinese consumers are very hungry for Western products and services but there is one thing that Westerners should keep in mind before they decide to enter the Chinese arena and that is:  China has a very huge population, most of whom do not speak English and in order to do business in China investors would have to ensure that they equip their staff with language professionals who can speak both English and Chinese.  In addition, they would also need to make themselves familiar with the culture and customs of China.  Each province of China has its own dialect and set of customs and culture and these variables should also be factored in during the analysis phase of one's investigation into whether or not to invest in China.

When it comes to investing in China, India, or even any other country in Asia, The difference between success and failure often lies in how much effort has been put into the analysis.  So often, many investors fail to consider the entire picture choosing instead to look at just part of it.  Translation is not the only piece to the puzzle.  Culture and customs are also just as important.

I am going to close by giving you a reference to investigate.

Chinese translation is also necessitated by the fact that China has a huge human resource, which is not familiarized with English language. Multinational global companies are flocking to China with the advent of free economy. ...

A PERSON THAT DOES NOT SEEK AND STRIVE AFTER MONEY, IS A PERSON THAT DEVOIDS ALL THAT LIFE HAS TO OFFER-PERIOD!

Hello there!  We the business team at www.sterlingcreations.ca are pleased and delighted to share a very informative and insightful article with you this week.  One that will help you to delve deeply into your own mirror and help you to discover exactly who you are and where you want to go.
We wish you a great day and a happy Easter.
Your business team

A PERSON THAT DOES NOT SEEK AND STRIVE AFTER MONEY, IS A PERSON THAT DEVOIDS ALL THAT LIFE HAS TO OFFER-PERIOD!

ATTENTION SERIOUS INVESTORS:

Part 1 of 5

MOVE YOUR MIND TOWARD MONEY, AND IT

 WILL COME!

Do you wish to change your life? Are you a person who seeks money? Have your past failures in the market dictated your future loses?

Which category do you fit?

The person who seeks money for the value in itself, or one who worships it like a GOD- are you that fool, who mistakes the symbol for reality? Or are you the person who denies yourself the pursuit and desire for money because, too much equals evil, likewise a fool indeed.

The wisest person is the one who seeks money as a symbol behind something else, something more, a person that is not captivated by mistaking it as substance, either good or bad. One who sees money as a symbol of almost everything that one may obtain from the outside world we reside in, and respects it as such. A PERSON THAT DOES NOT SEEK AND STRIVE AFTER MONEY, IS A PERSON THAT DEVOIDS ALL THAT LIFE HAS TO OFFER-PERIOD!

Any sane individual who desires money, really desires all the many and great things that money will purchase, a necessity for wellbeing and happiness. WITH IT ALL DOORS BECOME OPEN TO MANY MORE OPPORTUNITIES, AND WITHOUT IT ONE CAN PRACTICALLY ACCOMPLISH NOTHING! Does this make sense to you?

ISN'T MONEY THE TOOL THAT AIDS US TO CREATE MOSTLY ALL THINGS AND ENABLES US TOWARD NOT BEING HELPLESS?

Be this as it may, the fact remains that now, more than ever, there is nothing on our Earth that is more necessary for our wellbeing and content as much as money. Remember this- first, last and in between, "Man Needs Money", we need all that it brings, all that it purchases, all that it allows for nearly all the good and desirable things in life.

So - my friends, My name is Jeanne Grecco, and I say to you: Be not afraid, but assert your desire of possessing and using money: Recognize it as a natural right, like a plant to sunlight and water. And do more than this, DEMAND IT just like a plant.

I'm coming into your presence with a purpose to do business with you, with all the power and positivity in our services we can provide to you, to enable you to make more money than you have ever dreamed of having.

You can't catch my spirit? My confidence? Listen, we fill you up with our positive thoughts, our fundamental research, winner after winner, enthusiasm, success, confidence in our propositions, etc., and I believe we fairly radiate success toward you ---Do you not take "STOCK" in us and interest in our services? Chances are you are willing and glad to do business with us.

We're MONEY Magnets ---LIKE ATTRACTS LIKE!

You think I'm talking visionary talk, do you? Ask around, any successful person who has gained financial success and see whether or not their attitude was not one that had the expectation of money. It's their ideal, like ours, like yours wants to be!

Fix your mind, you attract the things you expect, think about and hold in your mental attitude. This is a firmly established, scientific, psychological fact. TRY IT!!

Listen, I'm not trying to champion this theory, but a person who thinks, talks and expects wealth attracts or is attracted to people of wealth, and in time shares with them, so watch our thought and talk---so in its place of your past you will substitute the wealth and prosperity you so desire.

See what others have to say about us...

Think about this...you have thought yourself into what you are. Your place in life is determined by your mental attitude-

Listen- mental attitude is the result of your thoughts, ideas, feeling and beliefs, which not only affects your character but influences everyone and everything around you.

What's most important is that a positive mental attitude should be done with the best possible materials—using the best plan—with the best tools!!!

The benefits of distance learning

Hello there!  We the team at www.sterlingcreations.ca are delighted to bring you an editorial by our president Donna J. Jodhan.  This is a very insightful editorial so we hope you find it of interest.
Have a great weekend.

The benefits of distance learning

Distance learning has really taken off in the last few years and with a bit of effort and tweaking, it won't be long before more and more blind and visually impaired persons really start to take advantage of it.  I say, distance learning could be a real God Send to blind and visually impaired persons but not just to these types of persons.  To the print disabled, to others who find it difficult or inconvenient to travel to physical locations, and to seniors and retirees.

If designers, developers, and those in authority can work towards making distance learning more accessible, then we will be all set but what do I mean by making it more accessible?  They need to work towards making it easier for blind and visually impaired persons to access online facilities.  They need to design and develop screens that are easier to navigate.  They need to provide texts in alternative formats, not just PDF formats alone.  They need to make it easier for forms to be completed independently.

Distance learning can open up a whole new world of opportunities for blind and visually impaired persons.  Just think!  Many more courses available, so much more to learn and experience, so easy to take from the comfort of their homes, but then there is something else.  Blind and visually impaired persons will now have to acquire the right combination of technology in order to take advantage of distance learning.  Doable you say?  Definitely possible.  Just ask the Hadley school for the blind.  www.hadley.edu

Here is a list of 24 things that evidence says are on their wayout in the near future

Hello there and a great day to you!  We your Accessibility team at www.sterlingcreations.ca are pleased to bring you an article that will certainly help you to know your business envirnment much better.
This article is insightful, interesting, and extremely informative.
We wish you a terrific day.

Here's a list of 24 things which evidence says are on their way out in
the near future

               24. Yellow Pages
This year will be pivotal for the global Yellow Pages
industry. Much like newspapers, print Yellow Pages will continue to bleed
dollars to their various digital counterparts, from Internet Yellow Pages
(IYPs), to local search engines and combination search/listing services like
Reach Local and Yodel Factors like an acceleration of the print 'fade rate'
and the looming recession will contribute to the onslaught. One research
firm predicts the falloff in usage of newspapers and print Yellow Pages
could even reach 10% this year -- much higher than the 2%-3% fade rate seen
in past years.

                 23. Classified Ads
The Internet has made so many things obsolete that
newspaper classified ads might sound like just another trivial item on a
long list. But this is one of those harbingers of the future that could
signal the end of civilization as we know it. The argument is that if
newspaper classifieds are replaced by free online listings at sites like
Craigslist.org and Google Base, then newspapers are not far behind them.

                 22. Movie Rental Stores
While Netflix is looking up at the moment, Blockbuster
keeps closing store locations by the hundreds. It still has about 6,000 left
across the world, but those keep dwindling and the stock is down
considerably in 2008, especially since the company gave up a quest of
Circuit City. Movie Gallery, which owned the Hollywood Video brand, closed
up shop earlier this year. Countless small video chains and mom-and-pop
stores have given up the ghost already.

                 21. Dial-up Internet Access
Dial-up connections have fallen from 40% in 2001 to 10% in
2008. The combination of an infrastructure to accommodate affordable high
speed Internet connections and the disappearing home phone have all but
pounded the final nail in the coffin of dial-up Internet access.

                 20. Phone Landlines
According to a survey from the National Center for Health
Statistics, at the end of 2007, nearly one in six homes was cell-only and,
of those homes that had landlines, one in eight only received calls on their
cells.

                 19. Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs
Maryland's icon, the blue crab, has been fading away in
Chesapeake Bay. Last year Maryland saw the lowest harvest (22 million
pounds) since 1945. Just four decades ago the bay produced 96 million
pounds. The population is down 70% since 1990, when they first did a formal
count. There are only about 120 million crabs in the bay and they think they
need 200 million for a sustainable population. Over-fishing, pollution,
invasive species and global warming get the blame.

                 18. VCRs
For the better part of three decades, the VCR was a
best-seller and staple in every American household until being completely
decimated by the DVD, and now the Digital Video Recorder (DVR). In fact, the
only remnants of the VHS age at your local Wal-Mart or Radio Shack are blank
VHS tapes these days. Pre-recorded VHS tapes are largely gone and VHS decks
are practically nowhere to be found. They served us so well.

                 17. Ash Trees
In the late 1990s, a pretty, iridescent green species of
beetle, now known as the emerald ash borer, hitched a ride to North America
with ash wood products imported from eastern Asia. In less than a decade its
larvae have killed millions of trees in the Midwest, and continue to spread.
They've killed more than 30 million ash trees in southeastern Michigan
alone, with tens of millions more lost in Ohio and Indiana. More than 7.5
billion ash trees are currently at risk.

                 16. Ham Radio
Amateur radio operators enjoy personal (and often
worldwide) wireless communications with each other and are able to support
their communities with emergency and disaster communications if necessary,
while increasing their personal knowledge of electronics and radio theory.
However, proliferation of the Internet and its popularity among youth has
caused the decline of amateur radio. In the past five years alone, the
number of people holding active ham radio licenses has dropped by 50,000,
even though Morse Code is no longer a requirement.

                 15. The Swimming Hole
Thanks to our litigious society, swimming holes are
becoming a thing of the past. '20/20' reports that swimming hole owners,
like Robert Every in High Falls, NY, are shutting them down out of worry
that if someone gets hurt they'll sue. And that's exactly what happened in
Seattle. The city of Bellingham was sued by Katie Hofstetter who was
paralyzed in a fall at a popular swimming hole in Whatcom Falls Park. As
injuries occur and lawsuits follow, expect more swimming holes to post 'Keep
out!' signs.

                 14. Answering Machines
The increasing disappearance of answering machines is
directly tied to No. 20 our list -- the decline of landlines. According to
USA Today, the number of homes that only use cell phones jumped 159% between
2004 and 2007. It has been particularly bad in New York; since 2000,
landline usage has dropped 55%. It's logical that as cell phones rise, many
of them replacing traditional landlines, that there will be fewer answering
machines.

                 13. Cameras That Use Film
It doesn't require a statistician to prove the rapid
disappearance of the film camera in America. Just look to companies like
Nikon, the professional's choice for quality camera equipment. In 2006, it
announced that it would stop making film cameras, pointing to the shrinking
market -- only 3% of its sales in 2005, compared to 75% of sales from
digital cameras and equipment.

                 12. Incandescent Bulbs
Before a few years ago, the standard 60-watt (or, yikes,
100-watt) bulb was the mainstay of every U.S. home. With the green movement
and all-things-sustainable-energy crowd, the Compact Fluorescent Lightbulb
(CFL) is largely replacing the older, Edison-era incandescent bulb. The EPA
reports that 2007 sales for Energy Star CFLs nearly doubled from 2006, and
these sales accounted for approximately 20 percent of the U.S. light bulb
market. And according to USA Today, a new energy bill plans to phase out
incandescent bulbs in the next four to 12 years.

                 11. Stand-Alone Bowling Alleys
Bowling Balls.  US claims there are still 60 million
Americans who bowl at least once a year, but many are not bowling in
stand-alone bowling alleys. Today most new bowling alleys are part of
facilities for all types or recreation including laser tag, go-karts, bumper
cars, video game arcades, climbing walls and glow miniature golf. Bowling
lanes also have been added to many non-traditional venues such as adult
communities, hotels and resorts, and gambling casinos.

                 10. The Milkman
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, in 1950,
over half of the milk delivered was to the home in quart bottles, by 1963,
it was about a third and by 2001, it represented only 0.4% percent.
Nowadays most milk is sold through supermarkets in gallon jugs. The steady
decline in home-delivered milk is blamed, of course, on the rise of the
supermarket, better home refrigeration and longer-lasting milk. Although
some milkmen still make the rounds in pockets of the U.S., they are
certainly a dying breed.

                 9. Hand-Written Letters
In 2006, the Radicati Group estimated that, worldwide, 183
billion e-mails were sent each day. Two million each second. By November of
2007, an estimated 3.3 billion Earthlings owned cell phones, and 80% of the
world's population had access to cell phone coverage. In 2004,
half-a-trillion text messages were sent, and the number has no doubt
increased exponentially since then. So where amongst this gorge of gabble is
there room for the elegant, polite hand-written letter?

                 8. Wild Horses
It is estimated that 100 years ago, as many as two million
horses were roaming free within the United States. In 2001, National
Geographic News estimated that the wild horse population had decreased to
about 50,000 head. Currently, the National Wild Horse and Burro Advisory
board states that there are 32,000 free roaming horses in ten Western
states, with half of them residing in Nevada. The Bureau of Land Management
is seeking to reduce the total number of free range horses to 27,000,
possibly by selective euthanasia.

                 7. Personal Checks
According to an American Bankers Assoc. report, a net 23%
of consumers plan to decrease their use of checks over the next two years,
while a net 14% plan to increase their use of PIN debit. Bill payment
remains the last stronghold of paper-based payments -- for the time being.
Checks continue to be the most commonly used bill payment method, with 71%
of consumers paying at least one recurring bill per month by writing a
check. However, on a bill-by-bill basis, checks account for only 49% of
consumers' recurring bill payments (down from 72% in 2001 and 60% in 2003).

                 6. Drive-in Theaters
During the peak in 1958, there were more than 4,000
drive-in theaters in this country, but in 2007 only 405 drive-ins were still
operating. Exactly zero new drive-ins have been built since 2005. Only one
reopened in 2005 and five reopened in 2006, so there isn't much of a
movement toward reviving the closed ones.

                 5. Mumps & Measles
Despite what's been in the news lately, the measles and
mumps actually, truly are disappearing from the United States. In 1964,
212,000 cases of mumps were reported in the U.S. By 1983, this figure had
dropped to 3,000, thanks to a vigorous vaccination program. Prior to the
introduction of the measles vaccine, approximately half a million cases of
measles were reported in the U.S. annually, resulting in 450 deaths. In
2005, only 66 cases were recorded.

                 4. Honey Bees
Perhaps nothing on our list of disappearing America is so
dire; plummeting so enormously; and so necessary to the survival of our food
supply as the honey bee. Very scary. 'Colony Collapse Disorder,' or CCD, has
spread throughout the U.S. and Europe over the past few years, wiping out
50% to 90% of the colonies of many beekeepers -- and along with it, their
livelihood.

                 3. News Magazines and TV News
While the TV evening newscasts haven't gone anywhere over
the last several decades, their audiences have. In 1984, in a story about
the diminishing returns of the evening news, the New York Times reported
that all three network evening-news programs combined had only 40.9 million
viewers. Fast forward to 2008, and what they have today is half that.

                 2. Analog TV
According to the Consumer Electronics Association, 85% of
homes in the U.S. get their television programming through cable or
satellite providers. For the remaining 15% -- or 13 million individuals --
who are using rabbit ears or a large outdoor antenna to get their local
stations, change is in the air. If you are one of these people you'll need
to get a new TV or a converter box in order to get the new stations which
will only be broadcast in digital.

                 1. The Family Farm
Since the 1930s, the number of family farms has been
declining rapidly. According to the USDA, 5.3 million farms dotted the
